Enzo Maresca has started his career as Manchester City coach very well. His team managed to achieve seven consecutive wins in all competitions, and the prospect of improving the performance of Maresca's team is something to look forward to. However, this all changed when City were found guilty of almost all the charges brought against them regarding breaches of Premier League financial rules from 2009 to 2018. Manchester City have appealed the decision.

This ruling has brought a storm to Manchester City's doorstep. Their strong start to the season was almost forgotten due to the findings of an independent commission into City's case. With domestic football returning this weekend, Enzo Maresca is now faced with a big task. This is a task he never asked for, but which he and his team must face.

Most of the Manchester City squad is currently on international duty. They have not gathered as a group since the independent Premier League commission's decision was announced. However, that will soon change in the next few days. It is known that Enzo Maresca's squad will gather on Thursday. Maresca will have a big challenge when this happens. According to a report by Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail, Enzo Maresca will speak to his squad on Thursday following the events of the past week.

Maresca must try to get his team to put aside the guilty decision for the time being. This will be a monumental task for the Manchester City coach. It is natural for City players to feel worried about the future of their club after the 115 verdict. Additionally, City players and staff will also be concerned about the sanctions the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders may face, and how that will affect them.

Enzo Maresca's job is to guide his team through this storm. He didn't ask to be in this position, but now he has to navigate this situation to keep his team focused on what they can control. The 115 situation is completely out of the control of the Manchester City players and staff, so they should not waste energy thinking about it. However, this is easier said than done nowadays.

In every interview and press conference that Enzo Maresca and the Manchester City players do from now on, they will be asked about the 115 decision and this case. No doubt, considering the enormity of this story. However, Maresca and the City players could not control the side. They will be the public face of this club. Despite what's to come, all Maresca and his players can do is focus on things on the pitch. That is their job.

The task is in Maresca's hands to inspire his team to overcome the coming storm. This is an unprecedented situation. If Maresca can achieve this goal, his team will be able to build on the impressive start they made to the 2026-27 season before the sky falls on them. It required extraordinary mental resilience from Maresca and his team to brush aside external events. That is the challenge that is now in front of them. It's a situation they didn't ask for, but it's a situation that could bring them together if they can put it aside.
