Torino Looking for New Goalkeeper: Petrachi Learns Some Names
June 18, 2026 · Global
Torino are looking for a new goalkeeper, with several names being considered by sporting director Gianluca Petrachi.
The process of building Torino's new squad starts from the goalkeeper position, where the club wants to avoid the mistakes that occurred in the previous season. Previously, the Baroni-Vagnati duo had made the wrong decision, with Israel being dropped in November and Paleari spending three quarters of the season as second goalkeeper. Now, the responsibility is in the hands of new coach Abate and sporting director Petrachi to determine the right profile. The first step was to release the Uruguayan who had been told to look for a new club, following an unsuccessful return to Torino following his debut at Juventus. Even so, it will be a challenge to recoup the five million euro investment made exactly one year ago. Torino are now looking for new options and expanding their search to fill their goalkeeper position.

On the one hand, there is the ambitious and expensive option in Wladimiro Falcone who has long attracted the attention of the club, although he previously expressed his dream of playing for Roma. On the other hand, there is a more affordable alternative, Lorenzo Montipò, who was relegated with Verona but has no intention of staying in Serie B. In the last few hours, the name of Bologna's Ravaglia has also emerged as an option, with the Torino management trying to negotiate a loan-based deal.
However, there are also other transactions that are almost completed. This will be a long-term purchase, considering that Diego Mascardi, who is only 19 years old, already has quite good experience, with a career in the Italian youth national team up to U-21 level. At Spezia, he appeared in 17 matches but was unable to save the club from relegation. Now Torino want to get the deal done quickly and must determine how to manage his development, whether by going on loan or remaining in their new goalkeeping scheme.
