This victory was achieved quickly, with three goals scored in less than 24 minutes of play. After starting on the bench against Cape Verde, Lamine Yamal came into the starting lineup and scored his first goal of the World Cup. He opened the scoring in Atlanta after 10 minutes, which was the start of a heavy defeat for Saudi Arabia. Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice in the first half, and an own goal by Hassan Altambakti in the second half completed the scoring. With a comfortable lead established early on, coach Luis de la Fuente took off Yamal and Oyarzabal in the first half.
