That's all," he added. Ironically, AC Milan is scheduled to meet Manchester United in their final pre-season match in Poland on 15 August. During the press conference, Amorim also apologized to the Italian media for not being able to speak Italian and gave his answers exclusively in English. He was sitting next to AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, who stated that he plans to get directly involved with the club after a poor end to last season, in which Milan picked up just seven points from the last eight games and failed to qualify for the Champions League. One of Amorim's initial tasks will be to try to convince Luka Modric to stay at the club. The Croatian captain has the option to extend his contract by a further year, but has yet to commit. "Modric is a player we want to keep because of his experience," said Amorim. "I know the management have spoken to Modric and I have spoken to him twice. If necessary, I will go and see him. He played very well and was a key point for us, especially at the start, to keep possession of the ball. "I won't say that he will play in all the games, but we really want to count him next season," concluded Amorim.
