Roma are working to build a team that is more suited to the figure of their coach, Gian Piero Gasperini. According to a report from Il Messaggero, the club nicknamed the Giallorossi and their coach have agreed to no longer rely on loaned players, at least not those without an option to buy. The reason is to avoid cases like those experienced with players such as Evan Ferguson, Leon Bailey and Kostas Tsimikas. Furthermore, Gasperini wants to avoid the risk of working for months with several players to raise and assess, only to lose them. There is no point working hard with a few young players if their existence is threatened by the high cost of exercising a purchase option. Therefore, both Echeverri and Dominguez were ultimately doomed ideas from the start: the former would primarily be a pure loan, with City Group retaining full control over it. On the other hand, Zaragoza and Malen did come on loan, but with a purchase option that applies under certain conditions.
