Portugal performed brilliantly by beating Oezbekistan, where Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goal that made him make history at the World Cup.
Portugal had a bad start to the 2026 World Cup, after only being able to achieve a draw against DR Congo. However, in the second match, they managed to recover by beating Oezbekistan with a landslide score. Cristiano Ronaldo was the main highlight, scoring the goal that made him go down in history as the first player to score in six World Cups.
After having difficulties in the previous match, Ronaldo gained the trust of coach Roberto Martínez and immediately proved it. In the sixth minute, Ronaldo opened the scoring by heading in a pass from João Cancelo, making him the second oldest goalscorer at the World Cup, after Roger Milla. This goal also ended Ronaldo's goal drought in major tournaments after more than ten matches.

After the first goal, Portugal continued to dominate the game and put pressure on Oezbekistan. In the tenth minute after Ronaldo's goal, the Portuguese team got a chance from a free kick. Even though many thought Ronaldo would execute it, Nuno Mendes actually took over and scored the second goal.
Oezbekistan gave hope after Azizjon Ganiev scored a goal, but VAR ruled it out for a foul before the goal occurred. At the end of the first half, Ronaldo again showed his class by scoring his second goal after receiving a pass from Bruno Fernandes, giving Portugal a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Portugal further widened the distance. An own goal from Abdukodir Khusanov added to Oezbekistan's suffering. Rafael Leão, who came on as a substitute, made it 5-0 with a goal in the final minute of the match. With this victory, Portugal progressed to the next round and Oezbekistan was forced to admit their opponent's superiority.
