Explore the most iconic World Cup outfits of African teams, showcasing their colorful designs and cultural significance.

The World Cup isn't just about goals, drama and emotion - it's also about great outfits. When it comes to colorful and iconic designs, Africa has had more than its fair share. BBC Sport Africa has selected 10 of the continent's best for you to rank. Which is your forever favorite?

Zaire 1974 (home)
The oldest, and perhaps the boldest, of our selections, this vision in yellow and green is very much a nod to the era. While the shirt has a large collar and deep V-shaped neck, what really makes it stand out is the decision to place the country's name and nickname as well as the team's logo, Leopard, on the chest. Congolese designer Alvin Junior Mak, who recently went viral after designing leopard print arrival jackets for the current squad, said he was inspired by 1974 fashion.

Algeria 1982 (home)
The deep neckline and oversized collar also mark this shiny beauty as a product of its time. Algeria's first appearance at the 1982 World Cup came at the end of the country's era of socialism, meaning the clothing was produced by the state-owned clothing company, Sonitex.

Cameroon 1990 (home)
Cameroon's run to the quarter-finals of Italia '90 is memorable for many reasons, including their 1-0 win over reigning champions Argentina in the tournament opener and, of course, the wigger at Roger Milla's corner post.

Nigeria 1994 (away)
Nigeria made their first World Cup appearance in 1994 and immediately set the standard with this jersey.

South Africa 1998 (home)
This geometric classic is an update of the much-loved shirt that South Africa wore to their Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) victory on home soil in 1996.

Cameroon 2002 (home)
Originally released as a basketball-style vest, the Invincible Lions wore a sleeveless version when they captured the Afcon title in February 2002.

Senegal 2002 (home)
The outfit's World Cup debut couldn't have gone better.

Ghana 2010 (away)
Luxury or gold? Ghana are wearing these bright sensations as they almost reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Nigeria 2018 (home)
This vision in neon green went viral and created long queues outside shops.

Ghana 2026 (home)
Looking like something Spiderman would wear, there is a cultural reason behind the design of this stunning new Ghana home shirt.
