Friendly Football Match between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Community in Thailand to Commemorate the 2026 World Cup

On June 14, 2026, H.E. Mr Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a friendly football match between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Buakeaw FC and representatives of the diplomatic community in Thailand, including from Canada, Mexico, the US, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and Norway. This event was jointly organized by the Embassies of Canada, the US and Mexico in Thailand at the NIST International School, Bangkok, to commemorate the 2026 World Cup which will be jointly hosted by the three countries. Before the event began, all participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the late Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluang Rajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita. In his remarks, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of human relations as a strong basis for international relations and noted that sport can be a means of building friendship, mutual trust and cooperation between countries. After the match, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the trophy to the diplomatic community team that won the competition.
