28 Year Old Leeds United Player Targeted by Torino: What to Do

Lucas Perri, the 28 year old goalkeeper from Leeds United, is now in an uncertain position. According to a report from Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino have included Perri's name on their shopping list after an unsatisfactory season in the Premier League. Torino previously favored Paraguayan international goalkeeper Orlando Gill, but those plans fell through as San Lorenzo raised their prices after Gill's stellar performances at the World Cup. This forced Torino's sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi, to look for alternatives, and Perri was deemed the ideal option. This situation is a dilemma for the club from Yorkshire. They spent £15.6 million to sign the former Lyon goalkeeper on a four-year contract last summer, but Perri is currently stuck on the bench. Coach Daniel Farke had played him in the opening three Premier League games, but everything changed when Perri suffered an arm injury which disrupted his playing momentum, so he only played three games in the league in 2026.  Statistics show that Perri's debut season in England was very disappointing; he conceded 29 goals in 16 Premier League appearances and only kept three clean sheets. Perri's low save percentage of 56.7% puts him in the lowest percentile globally. Now, Elland Road cannot accept the low loan offer from Torino president, Urbano Cairo. Recovering profits from the sale of Perri is a top priority. Turin is currently a very volatile place, with fans frequently protesting against the club's ownership. A loan with an option to buy could see Perri's market value plunge when he returns to Leeds. If Leeds want to cut ties with Perri cleanly, they will need to demand a permanent fee to recoup the £15.6m investment they have made. Releasing Perri on the cheap just doesn't make sense right now. Arsenal have managed to get Illan Meslier on a free transfer, and Karl Darlow's contract is approaching the end. Allowing Perri to leave without a comparable replacement ready is a very short-sighted decision, especially when scouts are monitoring Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
