Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Neymar is ready to play the full World Cup after recovering from injury. Neymar really wants to contribute more to his team in the match against Norway.
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that star forward Neymar is finally fit to play 90 minutes in their last-16 tie against Norway on Sunday. Ancelotti also admitted that Brazil's all-time top goalscorer was unhappy with his limited role as a substitute.
After fully recovering from the right calf injury that was bothering him, Neymar can now return to playing an important role for Brazil in this tournament. The 34-year-old endured a disappointing campaign, making just 14 minutes of appearances as a substitute in the group win against Scotland. However, concerns regarding his physical fitness have now been resolved following his manager's statement, providing a major boost for Seleção ahead of the match against Norway at the New York/New Jersey Stadium.
In an interview with Folha de S. Paulo, Ancelotti gave a detailed assessment of how Neymar is coping with life on the bench. When asked if he would keep Neymar around for a possible extra time — given he was left out against Japan for the same reason — the experienced Italian coach emphasized Neymar's maturity and ability to control the game.

"The important thing is that he is available to play. How long he will play, no one knows. He has the experience to manage the minutes and tempo of the game. When I feel the team needs him, I will put him [on the field]," said Ancelotti.
Responding to a question regarding Neymar's physical capacity to play a full game, the coach answered, "Yes. He can play for 90 minutes." Regarding the emotional challenges of a world-class player having to sit on the bench, Ancelotti praised Neymar's exemplary attitude: "He's not happy, but he behaves very well. He trains very well. Neymar is very respectful, friendly and loved by his team-mates. He is an important figure in the squad because of his extraordinary qualities and his very humble personality. I am very happy with him. And obviously, he wants to play, as always."
When asked if Neymar had openly asked to be included in the main squad, the coach explained the internal dynamics: "He didn't directly say 'I want to play,' but the desire was very clear. And that is a positive thing. A player cannot possibly be happy sitting on the bench."
Brazil will face a tough test in the round of 16 against in-form Norway, led by prolific striker Erling Haaland. The Seleção enter this match with a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions, relying heavily on Vinícius Júnior's excellent form. Neutralizing Norway's physical aerial threat while successfully exploiting Neymar's creative brilliance at every stage of the match will be key for Ancelotti to book a place in the quarter-finals.
