Muller Urges Bayern to Pay Attention to Manzambi

Thomas Muller has encouraged Bayern Munich to consider signing Johan Manzambi after his impressive performance for Switzerland at the World Cup.
Thomas Muller has told Bayern Munich to pay attention to Freiburg starlet Johan Manzambi. Manzambi has caught the eye at the World Cup for Switzerland, scoring twice after coming off the bench in the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina which ended in a 4-1 win for Switzerland. At the age of 20 years and 247 days, he became the youngest player in World Cup history to score at least two goals in a match as a substitute and the first player to do so for Switzerland. Last season at Freiburg, Manzambi scored seven goals in 47 appearances, and recorded six assists from 31 chances created. The youngster also took more shots (95) than anyone else on the team, with 26 of them on target, despite his shot conversion rate being just 7.4%. Muller was very impressed with Manzambi's performance in Switzerland's second match, prompting him to send a message to his old club. "For me, he is someone, and now we can make headlines: that FC Bayern should also pay attention to him," said Muller in his role as an analyst for MagentaTV. Manzambi came through Freiburg's academy, made his first-team debut in August 2024, and has now made 58 appearances in total. He scored in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final to help his team to a 3–1 win over Braga and progress to the final, although they lost to Aston Villa, where he was named Young Player of the Tournament. When asked about Muller's comments after the match, Manzambi said: "I'm still at Freiburg. I'm focused on the World Cup. I don't know what I'll do next season."
