In a very impressive match, Manchester City managed to beat AEK Athens with a score of 5-1, ending their series of poor results at home in European competitions. In this match, Elliot Anderson and Phil Foden each scored a goal, with Foden scoring an incredible hat-trick. The only goal for AEK was scored by Stavros Pilios. After the match, Enzo Marcelo gave an assessment of various aspects of his team's performance.
General Evaluation of Team Performance
"I think we put in a really good performance, especially after the game against Paris Saint-Germain. It wasn't an easy task, and now we're back to life in the Champions League. We had two games against Ipswich and today, and we had to win both games. Luckily, we managed to do our job. However, we still conceded one goal on the counter-attack, and maybe we could have done better in that moment."
Attack Line Performance
"We scored five goals again and could even increase that number. I'm happy because the players who haven't played much in the last few weeks, were able to perform well today. Honestly, for every coach, the best feeling is when there are a lot of changes in the squad, but the team still shows a good performance. I'm very happy with the performance of these players."
Phil Foden's performance
"This is good news for me; because we know he is in good shape at the moment, and that is exactly what we wanted. There are many reasons to be happy. First of all, because he is an extraordinary player and we all know that. I am happy for him and also for the team; now we have another key player we can rely on."
About Young Players
"I think tonight three players from the club's academy played for the first time. This is very good news for the academy and the club itself, and we are very happy about it."
Josko Gvardiol's Condition
"He didn't have any serious problems. He felt a little discomfort in his back during the warm-up, but he managed to play and is in good condition."
With this victory, Manchester City hopes to continue their positive momentum and compete at the highest level in the European Champions League. It is hoped that impressive performances like this will be part of City's revival after several previous bad results.
What happened next
With the momentum gained from this victory, it is hoped that Manchester City can continue their good performance in the upcoming matches, including the two matches against Ipswich. Coach Enzo Marcelo will continue to evaluate his team's performance to ensure they remain competitive in the European Champions League. The main focus is to improve the defense so as not to concede goals from counter attacks in the following matches.
