Main Points

- Pau Cubarsi has shown extraordinary form as a young defender, making great achievements with Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
- Forget Golden Boy: Why not Pau Cubarsi for the 2026 Ballon d’Or?.
Pau Cubarsi, a 19 year old defender from Spain, is now in the spotlight in discussions regarding the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Even though there are many big names in this race, Cubarsi has achievements that cannot be ignored. He succeeded in helping Spain win the World Cup title and was also selected as the Best Young Player in the tournament. So, why not consider Cubarsi for this prestigious award?
Since the start, Cubarsi has shown impressive performance. He became an important part of the Barcelona team and the Spanish national team, playing every minute during the World Cup. In the tournament, Spain conceded only one goal, and Cubarsi emerged as a leader in defense. In the final against Argentina, he recorded the highest number of touches and successful passes, and was able to prevent Argentina from creating dangerous opportunities.
In the world of football, awards such as the Ballon d'Or often prioritize players who score goals or provide assists, which means the position of defender is often overlooked. However, Cubarsi proved that a defender's influence on the game can be very significant. In the history of the Ballon d'Or, only a handful of defenders have won this award, such as Franz Beckenbauer and Fabio Cannavaro, reflecting how difficult it is to gain recognition for this position.
Cubarsi is not just an ordinary defender. He has exceeded expectations at such a young age. His Barcelona debut came in January 2024, and he quickly became the first choice in the club's back line. Dalam dua tahun, ia sudah mencapai lebih dari 100 penampilan kompetitif. Selain itu, keberhasilan Spanyol di Piala Dunia semakin menegaskan posisinya sebagai salah satu bek terbaik di dunia.
Spain's victory in the World Cup and his consistent performances at the club make Cubarsi worthy of consideration in the list of Ballon d'Or candidates. If a forward did the same thing—starting for Barcelona, helping the club to the title, then appearing at the World Cup on an individual note—there's no doubt he'd be the favorite.
Cubarsi is now at the top of the European Golden Boy rankings, indicating that he is not only a future star, but also a benchmark for other young players. With all the achievements he has achieved, it is time to recognize Cubarsi as not only a candidate, but also a player who deserves to be declared the winner of the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
Forget about the future that might come. Forget Golden Boy. Untuk apa yang telah dilakukan Pau Cubarsi di tahun 2026, Ballon d'Or seharusnya menjadi miliknya.
What happened next
Dengan Cubarsi kini menjadi salah satu dari 30 nominasi untuk Ballon d'Or 2026, perhatian akan terus tertuju padanya. If he continues to show consistent performances in La Liga with Barcelona, his chances of gaining further recognition will increase. Ini juga bisa menjadi momen penting bagi La Liga, yang sering kali didominasi oleh pemain-pemain menyerang dalam penghargaan individu.
