Jhon Lucumí, Bologna defender, commented on Juventus' interest in him, revealing that he will focus on the World Cup before discussing his future.
Bologna defender Jhon Lucumí confirmed that he will focus on the transfer market, including Juventus' interest, after the World Cup. "It's not the time to discuss things like this," he said. The Colombian centre-back has emerged as one of Juventus' targets to strengthen their defence, but the Bianconeri appear reluctant to pay his €28 million release clause. Lucumí's contract at the Stadio Dall'Ara expires in less than a year, namely in June 2027, but he does not want to talk about his future now. "I'm at the World Cup at the moment," he told Gazzetta. The 28-year-old was asked directly about Juventus' interest, but he reiterated: "It's not the time to discuss things like this. When I return to Italy, we will talk calmly about everything." Lucumí and his Colombian team just beat Ghana in the last 32 of the World Cup and will face Switzerland in the last 16. Thousands of fans support the South American team during every match in the World Cup. "It's a beautiful atmosphere; it feels like playing at home. And when everyone sings the national anthem together, wow, it's very emotional for all of us. We want to give a lot of happiness to our people, that's for sure," Lucumí said. "To reach the end, you have to overcome other obstacles. And you can only face them one by one, imagining that the only goal is to win. We are thinking about Switzerland for now. Keep your feet on the ground and stay completely focused." Lucumí has played for Bologna since 2022, when he completed an €8 million transfer from Genk. He has played 152 games with the Rossoblu, scoring two goals, and won the Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 season. Juventus have been in contact with Bologna in recent weeks, exploring the possibility of a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Fabio Miretti.
