Liverpool have managed to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, beating Newcastle in the transfer race. Munoz will join Liverpool after representing Spain at the World Cup.

According to various sources, Liverpool have reached full agreement to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna. The Merseyside outfit have activated a โฌ40 million release clause in the Spanish international's contract, and the player has accepted a six-year contract offer from Liverpool. Therefore, the Liverpool entourage has traveled to the US, where Munoz is currently representing his country at the World Cup, to undergo medical examinations and complete the necessary paperwork. Munoz was reportedly close to joining Newcastle before Liverpool swooped in and grabbed the attention, and this development will do little to improve relations between the two Premier League clubs, which were already tense after the events of last summer - Newcastle had hoped to sign Hugo Ekitike and combine him with Alexander Isak up front, but Liverpool snatched up Ekitike's transfer and then went on to sign Isak too. Munoz, whose main position is as a left winger, can also play on the right side. In all competitions last season, he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 games for Osasuna.
