The first half of Belgium's match against Iran in the 2026 World Cup ended with a score of 0-0. Iran scored a goal, but it was disallowed by VAR.
The match between Belgium and Iran at the 2026 World Cup ended in a goalless draw in the first half, which took place at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles. During the first 45 minutes, Iran appeared more dominant with several dangerous opportunities, although Belgium also showed a threat through its star players.
Belgium got the first chance of the match through Kevin De Bruyne who got the ball in an advantageous position, but his shot was blocked by the Iranian defense. Iran then provided a more threatening response in the 14th minute, when Kanani had a chance in the penalty box and fired a shot which was saved by Thibaut Courtois with a brilliant move.
Iran became increasingly confident and managed to score a goal in the 24th minute after a set-piece scheme. Mehdi Taremi, who received the pass, managed to beat Courtois with a left foot kick. However, Iran's joy did not last long, as VAR called the referee for a review and found that Taremi was in a very slight offside position when scoring the goal, so the goal was ruled out.
The match continued goalless until the first half whistle blew, leaving both teams with a score of 0-0.
