Enrique Riquelme, Real Madrid's presidential candidate, promised to recruit Erling Haaland if elected, by submitting an official document containing these promises.
Real Madrid's presidential candidate, Enrique Riquelme, made a surprising statement days before the club leadership election. The businessman announced that if he wins, he is committed to signing Norwegian striker Erling Haaland. Riquelme explained his plans for the transfer of the Manchester City striker in a Spanish program, El Hormiguero.

At the event, he showed a T-shirt with Haaland's name and an official document containing election promises. "The club will never be sold, and will remain 100% owned by its members. This has been recorded in the documents. If I do not fulfill any of my promises regarding these players (Rodri and Haaland), I have signed a guarantee that if I do not fulfill my promise, I will pay 100% of the membership fees of all socios (club members) for the next season," said Riquelme, as reported by Marca from El Hormiguero's broadcast.
In the 2025/2026 season, Haaland scored 27 goals in 35 matches in the Premier League, and also had eight assists.
