Jordan Henderson Suffers Injury While Celebrating England's Victory Over
Jordan Henderson, England midfielder, suffered an unusual injury after falling on an advertising board while celebrating England's 3-2 win over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca. In that match, England managed to lead 2-0 in the first half thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham. However, the situation changed in the second half when Jarell Quansah was sent off after receiving a red card, leaving England to defend with ten men against attacks from Mexico. After the game ended, the England players approached their supporters to sing "Wonderwall", as they do after every World Cup win. However, when Henderson tried to jump over the advertising board to return to the pitch, he fell and injured his wrist. He was forced to receive medical treatment on the pitch before being carried on a stretcher to the England dressing room and then taken to hospital for further treatment. Now, Henderson's future at the World Cup is a question mark. It is known that Henderson did not return to Kansas City with the rest of the England squad, but remained in Mexico City with a member of the team's medical staff. Coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his concerns via ITV, "Not good, not good. Jordan fell and injured his wrist, it seems very serious." Henderson only appeared once in the group stage, namely as a substitute in the second half against Panama. He did not play against Mexico, despite receiving a yellow card in the second half after being involved in an incident during the touchline warm-up. Jude Bellingham, his teammate, said: "He's in a bit of a problem, but our medical team has everything under control. It's probably better that I don't say much. We're here to support him." Although Henderson's injury was bad news, it was still a historic night for the England team. Mexico, who have lost only twice at the Azteca in 89 competitive matches since 1966, now have to accept the bitter reality of defeat to England. After the match was delayed an hour due to a storm, Mexico immediately attacked with full support from the fans who lifted their team's spirits even higher. However, the British were able to repel the attack and managed to secure a valuable victory. Bellingham opened the scoring for England with a diving header from Bukayo Saka's cross just over half an hour into the game, and within two minutes, he scored the second goal after combining with captain Harry Kane. Mexico responded with a goal from Julian Quinones after a messy situation in England's penalty box brought them back into the match. However, after a third goal by Kane from the penalty spot, Mexico regained hope when Raul Jimenez equalized at 3-2 with a penalty after a VAR review. With just over 20 minutes remaining, England had to defend tightly to maintain their lead, and despite losing possession of the ball, they managed to hold on until the end of the game. This is England's first visit to the legendary stadium since they lost to Argentina in the quarter-finals of the 1986 World Cup, when Diego Maradona scored the famous "Hand of God" goal by dribbling past an England defender. Now, they have succeeded in writing new history at the Estadio Azteca, even though they lost one of their pillars, Jordan Henderson. --- ## Related Articles 1.
