June 26, 2026 · Global
Georgy Dzhikiya expressed his gratitude to Lokomotiv and shared his hopes for the new season.
Central defender Georgy Dzhikiya gave his first comments after joining Lokomotiv. The former Spartak captain strengthened the team made by the railway club as a free player and signed a contract until the summer of 2027.
"I would like to say a big thank you to Boris Borisovich Rotenberg and the entire Lokomotiv management for the trust shown, as well as because we managed to quite quickly resolve all the questions and sign the contract. I am very happy to be able to return to the club, where I have spent more than 10 years, in the Lokomotiv system. Therefore, we will of course discuss this in more detail and later. Today, I just want to enjoy this moment, say thank you to everyone. There are a lot of memories, so today is just words of thanks.

Yesterday, Zelimkhan Bakayev sent me a message, we did not communicate with each other, only replied. I said to be patient for a while, because I like it when everything is ready to talk about what has been done. Therefore, now I will go, tell him at the base. And the rest of the cast didn't know, but of course I knew a lot of them. We have played together in the national team and at Spartak. So, I know a lot of them. I clearly understand what I came to the club for. Of course, I have spoken on the phone with Mikhail Mikhailovich Galaktionov. We have discussed everything clearly. Therefore, I understand well what is expected of me.
I really understand that what will be decisive is the field, where I intend to show my best performance. Hence, fewer big words. Let's wait for this season, prepare and move forward. The Turkish championship ended more or less the same as the Russian championship. I have prepared, trained, but one thing is to train alone, and another thing is to train with the team and do professional team preparation. Therefore, I am ready to train, no injuries, no problems and nothing else, just work and progress. The last few days, all these stories have, so to speak, been spinning in my head. How I started, how I went, different trains, minibuses, parents, travel, all that stuff. And when today I come back, I can continue my journey, there is a quite historic situation in my life. And life, of course, is an interesting thing, it turns out. The goals for the season have always been there, and always will be. "The team's interests, what the team's goals are, I will always represent those interests," Dzhikiya said in a video on Lokomotiv's VK page.
