With the team being valued so much lower, Fleetwood pointed out that in football, results do not always reflect market value. It also marked a historic step for Fleetwood, who made it to the quarter-finals for the first time.

Arsenal, who had a much higher rated squad, fell victim to one of the biggest shocks in League Cup history. According to data from Transfermarkt, Fleetwood Town's squad value is around 3.1 million USD, while Nam Dinh, who competes in the V-League, has a total squad value of 6.3 million USD. Fleetwood is currently ranked 18th out of 24 teams in League Two, while Arsenal is the team with the title of champion of the English Premier League.
This victory was also a historic moment for Fleetwood, because this was the first time they had managed to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup. On the other hand, Nam Dinh has a squad of 31 players, where the average value of each player is around 205,000 USD, in contrast to Fleetwood which only has an average value of 110,000 USD per player.
In the transfer market, Fleetwood has several high-value players, but is still far below the top players in Nam Dinh. Fleetwood's most expensive player is Mark Helm, who is valued at 389,000 USD. Meanwhile, Nam Dinh has several players with much higher values, such as Felix Eboa Eboa who is valued at 834,000 USD and striker Nguyen Xuan Son who is valued at 612,000 USD.
Although transfer fees only reflect part of a team's strength, Fleetwood proves that on the pitch, final results do not always reflect financial value. Goalkeeper Jay Lynch became the hero in the penalty shootout by parrying Bruno Guimaraes' shot, before Conor Haughey scored the winning goal.
History records that this is the first time since 1992, a team from English League Two has managed to eliminate the defending champions from a cup competition. Previously, Wrexham had done something similar by beating Arsenal in the FA Cup. With this surprise, Fleetwood Town once again showed that in football, anything can happen, regardless of the difference in team scores.
What happened next
After beating Arsenal, Fleetwood Town will now prepare to face the challenge in the League Cup quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to focus on improving their performance in the English Premier League after being eliminated from this competition.
