Francesco Pio Esposito will wear the number 9 shirt for the Italian national team, replacing Moise Kean who is unable to play due to injury, when the Azzurri face Turkey in the Nations League on Monday evening. This match will take place at the Dall'Ara Stadium, Bologna, at 19.45 BST.
Italy is currently in the final phase of the Nations League after previously winning over Turkey with a score of 4-1 in a match which took place at the opponent's headquarters, which was Roberto Mancini's second match in his second term as Azzurri coach. The win was Mancini's first in the second period after they previously suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Belgium and were held to a 1-1 draw by France.
As a competitive match in the Nations League, Mancini had to reduce his squad to 23 players for this match. Several changes were made to the squad that previously drew against France. Moise Kean was forced to leave the training camp due to injury, while Samuele Ricci and Mohamed Ali Zoma were also dropped from the list of players who will feature against Turkey.
Instead, Mancini called on Samuele Inacio, Alessandro Romano and Nicolo Cambiaghi to fill the positions left behind. With Kean's release, the previously vacant number 9 jersey will now be worn by Inter Milan striker, Esposito, who previously wore number 7 in this international match. The number 7 jersey has now been transferred to Cambiaghi, while Romano will wear the number 4 previously used by Ricci.
