Ederson confirmed that his transfer to Manchester United from Atalanta is almost final, after Brazil's match against Haiti at the World Cup.

Atalanta midfielder, Ederson, revealed that his transfer to Manchester United is almost complete, after Brazil won over Haiti in the World Cup. Ederson replaced Bruno Guimaraes off the bench in Brazil's 3-0 win at Philadelphia Stadium on Friday, and after the match, he was keen to discuss his future at club level.

Atalanta have reportedly received an offer of €40.5m (£34m) plus €4.5m (£3.5m) in potential bonuses for Ederson to join Michael Carrick's side ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. It is understood the Brazilian has agreed a four-year contract with an option to extend.

Ederson hopes to strengthen Manchester United's midfield after Casemiro's departure. Ederson's move to Old Trafford should have been completed in early June, but he received a sudden call to join Brazil's World Cup squad after Flamengo's Wesley suffered an injury.

After Friday's match, Ederson told Sky Sports Italia: "I have to wait. Now I have to enjoy this moment, then we'll see. Of course, it's almost over, but now I have to enjoy this moment. It's an incredible experience, and you have to enjoy it as much as possible."

Ederson has enjoyed an impressive four years at Atalanta, helping Gian Piero Gasperini's side to the Europa League title in 2023-24, after beating Bayer Leverkusen. Since his Atalanta debut in 2022, only Mattia Zaccagni (959) and Bryan Cristante (991) have won more duels than Ederson's 862 in all competitions. He has appeared in 180 games in all competitions for Atalanta, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists, while his 187 tackles rank him as the fifth highest among Serie A players since joining the club four years ago.
