Manchester City Defender Ouahabi Joins Chicago Stars

Manchester City defender, Leila Ouahabi, has agreed to join National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club, Chicago Stars, on a free transfer. The club from the United States confirmed this agreement via an upload on their official website this afternoon.

Ouahabi, who is a 33-year-old defender from Catalonia, will officially complete his transfer after his contract with Manchester City expires on June 30 2026. This player has agreed to a three-year contract with Chicago Stars.

Ouahabi joined Manchester City from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2022 and has made 106 appearances for The Cityzens in all competitions. She managed to win the Barclays Women's Super League and Adobe Women's FA Cup double with Manchester City this season.

Manchester City confirmed the player's move last month, and it has now been confirmed that Ouahabi will pursue a career in the United States. After agreeing to join the Chicago Stars, Ouahabi said, "I am very excited to join the Chicago Stars. This is a new challenge in my career, and I can't wait to meet my teammates and start playing. I hope to bring my soccer knowledge and experience to the team, and I want to bring the best version of myself and help the team do the same. Ouahabi will represent the Chicago Stars through the end of the 2028 NWSL season.
